After years of working in multidisciplinary clinics here in Nova Scotia and in Ontario as both a Kinesiologist and Massage Therapist, Ashley made the decision to dive into the world of professional independence.
In October 2019, Knead to Stretch Therapeutic Care was opened in her hometown of Cole Harbour, NS.
Ashley graduated with a BSc in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS and received a diploma in Massage Therapy from the Royal Canadian College of Massage Therapy in Toronto, Ont. in 2013. She has completed her certification as a Level 1 Fascial Stretch Therapist and in addition has been trained in cupping, gua sha therapy and kinesiology taping. She is a trained birth/postpartum doula and certified yoga and movement teacher. She is a current member in good standing with the Massage Therapists Association of Nova Scotia.
Ashley's background is in active rehabilitation. She uses that experience in her massage practice to deliver the best possible care she can for her clients. She has a passion for helping people recover from injury, live without pain, and reach their overall health and wellness goals. Prior to the pandemic, she also gave her time to volunteer in the QE2 Sunshine Room treating patients fighting cancer, survivors and their caregivers on a monthly basis. She is the current board chair and a yoga teacher with the Black Wellness Co-Operative of Nova Scotia. This organization was formed in 2020 and is comprised of black health and wellness professionals committed to providing their expertise and services to underserved communities.
Knead to Stretch was recently voted the Platinum winner in the best massage category of the 2023 Halifax Community Votes awards.
